TAUBMAN TO BUILD FOOD COURT, PLAY AREA AT STAMFORD TOWN CENTER
Released: 03/01/07
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MICH., March 1, 2007 - Taubman Centers, Inc.
(NYSE: TCO) today announced the addition of a 454-seat food court and children's play area to Stamford Town Center in Stamford, Conn.
Much of the center's seventh level will be transformed into a quick-service food destination, with eight vendors and a 2,000-square-foot interactive children's playscape. Construction of this area begins today and will be completed in 2008.
This project is in addition to Stamford's ongoing renovation of the area once occupied by Filene's, which opens up the center with an outdoor plaza and adds new retail options - including the state's largest Barnes & Noble - and many well known restaurants including The Capital Grille, P.F. Chang's China Bistro, Kona Grill and California Pizza Kitchen. The Plaza will open Nov. 1.
"With the additions of the food court and sit-down restaurants, we're opening new options for our daytime workers looking for a pleasant, relaxing place to eat," says Mike McAndrews, Stamford Town Center General Manager, who points to research that reveals that nearly 107,000 people work within three miles of the shopping center.
"Families will love the new options as well," he adds. "The play area is right in the heart of the seating area, so parents can watch their children play as they enjoy a meal."
"Our investment in these projects emphasizes our commitment to Stamford and demonstrates our goal of bringing our visitors the best in dining and shopping opportunities," McAndrews says.
Stamford Town Center, with Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy's and 130 fine stores, is located at Exit 8 off I-95, at the intersection of Tresser and Greyrock. Shopping hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Preview the stores, the styles, the sales at www.shopstamfordtowncenter.com.
