New “Yearbook Yourself” Campaign Helps Teens Shop for the Hottest Back-To-School Styles
STAMFORD, CT August 6, 2008 - - Stamford Town Center is taking teens back in time to get ready for back to school. The mall, located in downtown Stamford, launched an innovative online and in-center experience this week that allows teens to see what they might have looked like when their parents were in school, all while catching up on current back-to-school fashions.
The campaign, created by Minneapolis-based ad agency Colle+McVoy, features a new website, www.YearbookYourself.com, which allows visitors to upload their photos and morph their faces onto yearbook photos spanning five decades. They can easily move from the 1950s through the 1990s and see themselves with the hair and fashion styles of the times while listening to music inspired by that era. Simultaneously, they can learn about the fashion styles and trends of the eras and which stores, found at Stamford Town Center, carry today's hottest back-to-school looks.
“We wanted to offer teens and their parents a unique online experience that also helps them get ready for school,” said Jim Zielinski, Director of Marketing at Stamford Town Center. “Teens can have a lot of fun with the technology while learning about vintages styles and how they have influenced what they wear today.”
The site also features "homeroom" pages that allow visitors to save their favorite yearbook photo to a page and then invite friends to post their photos as well. Once invited friends post their photos, and a virtual yearbook page is created. Shared links allow friends to view each others’ homeroom pages. They can also save, print, email or post their yearbook photo creation to a webpage or social network site.
Stamford town Center will also feature a “Yearbook Yourself In-center Experience” on Level 7 of the mall through September. This walk-thru, gallery-like exhibit displays vintage products through the ages. It ends with an approximately 8’ x 7’ 3D yearbook highlighting teen photos from the 1950s up through today, juxtaposed with images of vintage products and the current products and fashions found at Stamford Town Center. A DVD loop will also show highlights from the online experience.
Stamford Town Center, with Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy's and 130 fine stores, is located at Exit 8 off I-95, at the intersection of Tresser and Greyrock in the heart of Stamford Downtown. Shopping hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11:00 a. m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Sit-down restaurants located in the new Plaza wing of the mall have extended operating hours.
