Barnes & Noble will open a two-level, 40,000-square-foot book store -- the largest in the state and the first in Stamford. The new store will carry close to 200,000 book, music, DVD and magazine titles and include a cafe serving Starbucks coffee and selections from The Cheesecake Factory. Its large children's departments will stock more than 15,000 titles in an easy-to-browse environment and feature thrice-weekly children's story hours. Barnes & Noble visitors will be able to listen to any CD in the store by passing any of 200,000 music titles under a scanner at state-of-the-art listening stations.
